photo The implementation by Volga JSC of forest supply and reforestation programs will be continued in Varnavinsky district of Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2022.

According to Stanislav Lapin, Head of the Logging Department of Volga JSC, the reforestation program was implemented by Volga JSC in 2021 in full. In general, reforestation activities were carried out in 2021 at a total area of 700 hectares. Planting of new seedlings with full artificial reforestation was carried out on 214 hectares of land, which exceeds the 2021 plan by 18%. At the same time, it should be noted that due to the efforts of management, according to the results of last year, such an indicator as EBITDA for a logging site was exceeded by 30%.

"We have exceeded the plan even more in terms of agricultural output – by about 40%," says Stanislav Lapin. – In 2022, we plan to plant seedlings with a closed root system on an area of at least 300 hectares. I mean artificial reforestation together with the preservation of the young plants, which is also an important reforestation event." Construction and maintenance of roads on the forest plots of Volga JSC in Varnavinsky district last year was carried out in accordance with the approved plan.

"It is also important that in 2021 the launch of Volga JSC's own railway shipping terminal took place at Lapshanga station (Severny village, Varnavinsky district), – Stanislav Lapin notes. "Since June 2021, a terminal with a loading front of 16 railway platforms has been operating at full capacity, which gave us the opportunity to redistribute the shipment of products from motor vehicles to railway transport and increase the overall rail shipment by 30%."
Another achievement of the Company in 2021 was the receipt of the FSC® forest management certificate. This was a confirmation that Volga JSC works within the framework of Russian and international requirements of sustainable forest management and has a responsible approach towards the development of forests, implementing a system of environmental and social responsibility of forest management. As for the development of social infrastructure, Volga JSC plans to continue improving working conditions for employees of the logging department in 2022.

"Two mobile buildings for meals have already been purchased, which will be installed on the territory of our forest plots this year," Stanislav Lapin shares his plans. – The work has begun on the selection of an organization that will provide hot meals to our staff. A canteen will be opened near the new loading terminal at Lapshanga station (Severny village), additional lighting is installed around the perimeter of the lower warehouse. Doctors who provide services for pre-flight and post-flight medical examination of personnel will continue to work, vaccinations against tick-borne encephalitis will be carried out as scheduled."

It should be noted that in March, at the logging sites of Volga JSC, the fleet of logging trucks was expanded, Iveco vehicles with trailers have been purchased, which will increase the volume of wood removal on its own, and the number of employees will increase by 8 people. Serious work is also continuing to increase the estimated cutting area of Volga JSC: new sites are being selected, which will allow the company to double its own harvesting volumes in 2024.
