Modernization to Improve the Quality of Products
In paper shop No. 3, as part of a project to modernize two longitudinal cutting machines (LCM No.1 and LCM No. 2), the LCM steel bearing shafts were replaced with new modern soft-coated shafts – ElaCare, ElaGrip and ElaLoad manufactured by Voit (Germany). Investments in the project amounted to more than EUR 1 million. This was announced by the Chief Technologist of Volga JSC Dmitry Spitsin.
"The dismantling of old shafts and the installation of soft bearing shafts on LCM No.2, as well as the replacement of the clamping shaft and bearing shafts on LCM No.1 was carried out by LS-Group, a specialized organization under supervision of representatives from Voit Paper Technology Rush, – said Dmitry Spitsin. "All the work was carried out with strict adherence to the schedule and without stopping paper production."
Upon commissioning of the upgraded longitudinal cutting machines carried out jointly with specialists from the Department of Laboratory and Technical Control and Quality, employees of the technological service of Volga JSC checked the rolls for the presence of uneven winding of paper in diameter and confirmed the complete absence of in-roll defects.
The installation of the new equipment made it possible to increase the paper winding density and its length (in meters) with a constant roll diameter, eliminate the occurrence of paper defects due to uniform load distribution during winding, and also reduce the vibration of the longitudinal cutting machine.
The absence of vibration during the cutting of rolls guarantees high-quality unwinding of newsprint on the roll of the printing machine in the printing house. As Dmitry Spitsin noted, Volga JSC specialists will visit a number of printing houses in the near future to get feedback on improving the patency of newsprint on printing machines.
The investment program implemented by Volga JSC includes a phased upgrade of the Company's production facilities, which will bring the quality of products to an even higher level and contribute to the expansion of sales markets.
