In April 2024, a delegation from Volga JSC visited two major international exhibitions: WEPACK in Shenzhen (China) and Paper & Tissue One Show in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

Volga was interested in visiting these exhibitions from the product promotion opportunity and signing new contracts point of view. Through meetings with key and prospective partners, we can gain a greater understanding of expectations and needs of end consumers of company products, and cement partnering relationships.

“Reduction in package weight is a current worldwide trend. Volga company focuses on the production of 42-120 g/m2 light and ultra-light container boards. This sets us apart from most competitors,” Dmitri Krivoruchenko, Deputy Sales General Director, who visited the international exhibitions, said. – Despite the existing situation where the global container board market is faced with the overproduction, our company finds ways not only to maintain its presence in China and the Middle East, but also to expand it. In particular, this helps to better plan sales of new products once reoriented paper machine No. 6 is launched in September 2024. At present, the major equipment of the new recycled pulp line for PMM 6 is being installed at the production site. This will increase the production volumes of low-basis weight corrugated board flutes and light liners of 60-120 g/m2 by 140,000 tons annually. For the manufacture of Volga JSC PMM 6 new products, a composition of recycled and thermo-mechanical pulps will be used. Worthy of separate attention is also the installation of an up-to-date gluing press. This know-how will allow the industrial complex to manufacture container board of excellent consumer properties with surface sizing, which will ensure its efficient processing on advanced high-speed corrugated board making machines, and will also protect the products against moisture. In 2024, the commercial department of Volga JSC has scheduled activities to bring the container board manufactured on PMM 6 not only to the Russian, but also to the international markets. In particular, the products will be delivered to China and the Middle East.”

“The main expectations of the supply chain service from these two exhibitions were related to the acquisition of information about the container board consumers’ requirements to product technical parameters, service level, in order to prioritize the product portfolio development. It is important for us to understand how consumers handle light and ultra-light boards, what challenges they run into, in order to properly determine the trajectory of product development. As a results of our work at the exhibitions, we have acquired information that will help us run projects targeted at expanding the range of products and improving the quality of customer service more efficiently,” Ksenia Lomaeva, Supply Chain Director said.

Volga company looks for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation with new prospective partners.
