Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda (East Africa) in the Russian Federation came for the first time on a working visit to our region on June 21 at the invitation of the Nizhny Novgorod Foreign Affairs Ministry and the regional department of external relations. Temporary charge d'affaires, Gideon Rutazindva, Deputy of the Diplomatic Mission, headed the Delegation. As part of the visit, the guests visited the Volga JCS paper mill in Balakhna.
Valery Yarmilko, Deputy Director General for Government Relations, Alexander Raskatov, his advisor, Yana Mayorova, Head of the Export Department, and Alexei Moiseev, Head of the Public Relations Department, took part in the negotiations on behalf of Volga JCS. The delegation of the Embassy of Uganda, together with the staff of the Foreign Economic Relations Department and the representative offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Nizhny Novgorod region, went on an excursion to paper shop No. 3, got acquainted with the products of the plant and estimated the production capacity of the enterprise.
The desire to expand the import of Nizhny Novgorod commodities, including the export of paper produced by JSC "Volga" to this country, was the purpose of the visit of the Uganda Embassy representatives.
Uganda is a developed region and ranks 78th in the rating of 145 trading partner countries in our area. The government of Uganda is reforming education and allocating funds for compulsory free education for the country's inhabitants. In this connection, the need for paper for books, textbooks, and notebooks printing is growing. JSC "Volga" products can help resolve this issue, as they are ideal for such purposes.
The delegation was satisfied with the Volga JSC visit. This means that our enterprise has the prospect of signing a new long-term contract to deliver finished products to East Africa.
Volga JSC already has cooperation experience with the Republic of Uganda – we are one of the leading suppliers of newsprint and packaging paper for various purposes from the Nizhny Novgorod territory to Uganda. About 5% of the company's products in 2021 were delivered to the African continent. We hope the visit of the delegation headed by Mr. Gideon Rutazindva will contribute to the expansion of our cooperation”, – said Valery Yarmilko, Deputy Director General for Interaction with State Authorities.
