At present, the Company has been completing commissioning operations on new MM-500 recycled pulp line, which is designed to supply raw materials to reoriented paper-making machine No. 6.
The new recycled pulp line (MM-500) is being built within the framework of the priority investment project implemented by the Company to develop manufacture of packaging papers with an increase in raw material processing capacity and improving the energy efficiency.
It is worth reminding that MM-500 project was launched in December 2023; in February 2024, equipment for MM-500 recycled pulp line and PMM6 waste paper line was delivered, and in the second quarter this year, installation of equipment began, which was completed in October. Then the experts of Volga JSC commenced start-up and commissioning works.
The project design documentation was developed by "TRIPLUS Engineering” company. Installation works were carried out by contractors LS-Group and DRSU.
“Commissioning of the new recycled pulp line is just the start, the first stage of our long-term development strategy. This stage includes three major investment projects: reorientation of PMM6, implementation of a recycled pulp line and launch of a steam turbine, Sergei Pondar, General Director of Volga JSC said. – To restore PMM6 efficiency, we needed to get equipment and perform a large package of work that to bring the machine up to new standards. At the moment, PMM6 is at the commissioning stage.
To implement the second MM-500 project, made use of the infrastructure at hand, which allowed us to significantly reduce costs. It is expected, that the designed project capacity will be reached by the end of this year.
The third project is focused on increase of own generation by commissioning a 27 MW condensing steam turbine. It is important to emphasize that this is a completely Russian product: from materials to automation, electronics and control panel. The turbine was successfully delivered, mounted with associated equipment, a permit was obtained from regulatory authorities for hooking up to the utility line, and has already been put into operation. Next year will be the year of projected capacity attainment, a time of stabilization and determining the next step in production modernization for us.
Introduction of reoriented PMM6 with a production capacity of 140 thousand tons per year actually means a 50% increase in the total capacity of the Company. After full use of machine capacity and additional raw materials manufactured by the recycled pulp line, the Company will be able to reach a level of about 450 thousand tons per year. Reoriented PMM6 will manufacture high-quality testliner and fluting, including with products with surface sizing. This will make it possible to meet the needs of package paper markets.
